Tonight at the Welshot portfolio building session we are excited to have Emma Starmore-Smith joining us at the Creative Hub in Llandudno.  During this session, Emma, who loves a bit of “Big Dress Glam” when it comes to fashion, will be sporting a number of different looks with at least three costume/outfit changes.  You will be using studio mains, and off camera flash lighting techniques in the studio itself as well as using the buildings features to capture your portrait photos for your portfolio.  If the weather is suitable we may also go outdoors to make some funky, grungy and dynamic images.

Tonight at the Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening it’s all about Headshot Portraiture – shooting in the studio as well as out on location.  You will be creating five completely different looks from your model(s) using a wide variety of photographic and lighting techniques.  From creating silhouettes to using gels.  From shooting in black and white to creating bokeh in your portraits to using a single light – the only limiting factor will be your creativity.  We will be using props such as car windows, guitars, mirrors, hats and scarves and you will even learn how to use the surroundings around as your background to your advantage.  Studio mains flash, off camera flash and natural light will, again, help you to create differing looks to your photographs.  Using shadows, natural and created in the studio will also help you to be creative and think outside the box while you make some really effective images.

Christmas Creative & Still-Life Photography - Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening

Creative Christmas Photography at the Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening is all about having some fun with your camera while you create some wonderful seasonal still-life and floral photographs.  At the November Welshot Academy Evening at the Welshot Creative Hub you will be learning how, by using fairy lights, and Christmas trees to capture that lovely Bokeh in your camera which makes for some stunning and festive images.  We will have a range of Christmas flowers and props so you can style a floral Christmassy still-life. From flat-lay to still-life photography this will be an opportunity for those who want to make festive and seasonal images for a specific purpose – art work, Christmas cards, stock photography or just for the pure fun of learning something new and a chance to take some photos.  Hot chocolate, Christmas mince pies, Christmas crackers will complete this last Llandudno Academy Evening for 2023.

Your weekly food shop, or a child’s toy box will become a world of inspiration and an adventure.  Ordinary household items and foods will now be a child’s playgrounds, or ramps and jumps for a miniature skatepark. Welshot Does... Frocks on Rocks.  This high-fashion photo-shoot has been a long standing annual event at Welshot, and each year, while we may have had a different theme, one thing has always remained the same - The seaside is ALWAYS our location and the 2023 event is no exception. Our theme for 2023 is... Vogue - 1940's & 1950's Fashion and our models will be dressed to the nines.   The end of the war saw the return of couture fashion designers like Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, and Hubert de Givenchy, all of whom had a major impact in the style of the decade and at this Welshot Photo-Shoot our Models will be wearing all manner of clothing from full skirts, cinched waists, sloping shoulders, and high waisted pants, which will create hourglass silhouettes with masculine details - perfect to capture in your camera and a stunning image for your portfolio.  We are however, making one major change - we will be starting the days shooting after lunch and will continue until after the sun has gone down.  By making use of of the afternoon and evening light that Llandudno is famous for, you are going to be capturing our models using that natural glow as well as using off camera flash.
