This Lighting Techniques for Studio Portraiture – Chester Photographic Academy Evening event is for all photography enthusiasts who are wanting to learn about photographic lighting.  During the evenings workshop you will be using mains studio lights and off camera flash. Learning about lighting, and how it works, is the single most important skill to have when when it comes to your portrait photography. Working with our Welshot Models you will try you hand at Rembrandt, butterfly, side and split lighting.  You will be using grids, modifiers and getting creative, learning to see (and shoot) in black and white and working with coloured gels. This studio mains and off camera flash photography workshop will be taking place at The Chester Crowne Plaza.

Low-Light & Creative Cityscape Photography – Chester Photographic Academy Evening

Grab your camera, charge you battery, it’s time for the Welshot Low-Light & Creative Cityscape Photography – Chester – Photographic Academy Evening event.  Meeting at the Chester Crowne Plaza we will be walking along part of the walls and towards the River Dee where we will capture the historical atmosphere of Chester.  From low-light to long exposures, from wide landscapes (Cityscapes) to stunning details that you will only find in this Roman City – this photography workshop is going to have you and your camera looking for lead in lines, reflections, and details galore. You will be learning to ‘See’ images in Black & White and how to make the most of whatever the weather and light throws at us. From picture in puddles (if it rains) to long, creative exposures, which will have us capturing traffic trails. From wide Cityscape vistas to getting those detail shots – this event will have you going home with plenty of photographs secure on your memory card.

Street & Documentary Photography – Chester Photographic Academy Evening

Probably one of the most scariest, yet satisfying photographic genres, street, documentary and reportage photography is, we think, one of the most rewarding.  Recording life as we see it now, through our cameras, will, in years to come, become an important study of social history. At this Welshot Photographic Academy Evening you will learn how to use your camera to record the street scenes of Chester.  Learning how the art of street, documentary and reportage photography will give you, the photographer, a wide variety of transferable skills that will become invaluable in many ways for your photography.  We guarantee that you will leave with not only images you can be proud to showcase in your portfolio but will more confidence than ever in using your camera in all manner of situations and environments.

Low-Light & Long Exposure Photography, shooting for HDR and Cityscape Photography. That’s what will be happening at this Roving Academy Evening in Chester. This Welshot Photographic Academy adventure will start at the Old Harkers Arms, which will then, will take you and your camera on a gentle stroll alongside the Shropshire Union Canal that meanders through Cheshire. From learning how to use your camera in low-light conditions, taking long exposure photographs to shooting for HDR, this photographic workshop is guaranteed to provide you with the inspiration needed to capture some stunning and dramatic images. This photography event is perfect for the photographer who loves nightscapes and architecture.  As the sunset will be at 16:40 on the 24th January 2023, You will be working in extreme low-light conditions.

Dance Portrait Photography in Chester

Ballet shoes, tutus and graceful movements – that’s what the Welshot Team will be helping you to capture in your camera at this Dance Portrait Photography workshop in Chester.  This will be a day of creating images using two different lighting set ups.  In the studio using mains flash and outside, on location using off camera flash.  From unique, specifically printed for Welshot, backdrops in a studio environment, to using the historic backdrop of Chester outside locations you will, on this photography workshop be making and creating stunning images for your photographic portfolio.  You will learn how to use your shutter speed to create a variety of effects in camera – from long exposures to freezing movement. Portraiture photography is a great skill to learn and on this event we will be using a variety of lighting to capture a range of different looks.  From head shots to our dancers leaping this day will have it all.

.At this Welshot Photographic Academy Evening in Chester it’s all about Shooting with Gels – Off Camera Flash Photography. You will be shooting on location, in an urban environment, around the historic city of Chester while capturing your stunning, experienced, Welshot models in camera while using lighting gels and modifiers. You will learn how to balance ambient, low-light conditions and flash photography while using gels. Not only will you leave this Welshot photographic workshop with a camera roll full of wonderful portrait photography but you will leave having learnt a new photographic skill and technique, or three
