At Welshot

Knowing your model is an important part of your photo-shoot!

Making great images that have that WOW factor can really only be achieved if you have a great rapport with your Model, and an understanding of how he, or she works best. This genre of photography is a collaborative process, and building a relationship with your Model fosters a positive working environment. Collaboration can lead to better ideas, improved creativity, and a more enjoyable experience for both the photographer and the model.

By establishing trust you will build the rapport needed to create a sense of trust and comfort. This is crucial for capturing natural and authentic expressions, as a relaxed and comfortable model is more likely to open up in front of the camera.

At Welshot, we do the hard work for you – We get to know our Models first, before we introduce them to you, the photographer. We make sure the Models we bring to Welshot are going to be the right fit – for them, for us, for you!

This is a new blog series where we introduce you to the Models we will be bringing to our new range of photographic events for those photographers who are wanting to take photos for camera club competitions, serious about their own personal continued professional development and building a photographic portfolio.

Introducing Olga Solomakhina

Olga is an experienced model, actress and dancer from Ukraine . As an actress she has had parts in television and movies, proving herself to be an artistic and expressive actor in a wide variety of roles. Olga’s favourite photo-shoots are ones where she can be get into different characters in front of the camera – and show emotion, readily able to switch from laughing to crying in an instant. Olga is very versatile and creative and loves getting into character. Olga says. “Just say me your idea and type of photos you want to receive and I will adjust my outfits poses and expressions to achieve your goal!” – At Welshot, all we can say is what more would you want from a model!

We asked Olga:

How did you get started in your modelling career?

From childhood, I dreamed of being an actress and a model. But i always was afraid to do it. My boyfriend once gifted me a modelling course at a very popular school in Kyiv. There was an acting class as well and I enjoyed the it so much that I decided to pursue it. I attended other courses and completed them in two different schools within two years. Afterward, I started appearing in TV series, movies commercials, and performing in the theatre. Occasionally, I modelled for various brands, but it wasn’t my main main job, cause I had a business and was focused on it. When the full-scale war began in Ukraine, I moved to the UK and finally dedicated myself to my favourite profession: modelling. Any terrible situation has some silver lining. My work here is the positive outcome that the war brought to me.
