Spring Nature Ramble – Photography at RSPB Conwy. Grab your camera and join us on our Nature Ramble – Photography at the RSPB Conwy Nature Reserve in North Wales, guaranteed to help ease out you of Winter and into Spring while capturing the beauty from what can only be described as a stunning environment. The Conwy RSPB nature reserve is a wetland on the Conwy estuary, created from material dug out during the construction of the A55 road tunnel. It is now home to a variety of wildlife, and a great place for photographers and their cameras. there is always something to see and photograph, from landscape to macro, flora and fauna and, of course, birds. Your Welshot Masterclass will be learning how to work with light and shutter speeds to capture stunning compositions and movement.

Macro & Close-Up Floral Photography. Macro photography (or close-up photography) is a photographic genre that some people struggle with but at our Full Day photographic event, based in the Welshot Creative Hub in Llandudno, Team Welshot will take you through step by step of everything you need to do to create some stunning macro photography images. At this event we will be working with a wide variety of flowers, using natural, ambient and artificial light, which will ensure you will still get a day of photography regardless of the weather outside.  There will be ample opportunity for one to one tuition as well as in a small group setting (this event is limited to just 4 people) where you can collaborate with other delegates.  With a whole day of photography ahead of you, there will be plenty of time to get creative, experiment and make some stunning images which you can be proud of.

At this Welshot Photographic Academy Evening you will see that oil and water do mix!  You will also see how water, bokeh, smoke from incense sticks, and using old Cd's can make for some great photos.  By learning how to make your own filters, create bokeh, and hone your flash techniques you will make and create water droplets which can make for stunning images or even artwork.  From Macro (or Close-Up) to using different camera settings and depth of field can give you a wide variety of different looks which will not only make your photography stand out but will also help build your portfolio.   Brilliant for stock images, or craft work if that's your jam - learning the art of creative photography not only gets you thinking a little differently but it is also satisfying and almost mindfulness-like.  It will also, undoubtedly, learning more about your camera and how to use it in more ways than one.

Seascape Photography - Low-Light & Long Exposure – Roving Photographic Academy Evening. We’re taking advantage of the lovely, lighter longer, but, hopefully nicer weather Evenings and getting out and about with our cameras to capture Llandudno and its long, circular bay, the promenade and pier (from Promenade) and the sea in low-light conditions after the sun has set.  At this Welshot Roving Photographic Academy Evening, based in Llandudno, we will be shooting long exposures – from the Prom to the Pier itself. We will also be capturing traffic trails, grade one and two listed building all lit up and learning how to show your environment around you in one perfect image.

Shooting in low light can be challenging – Tonight you will be learning how to each element of the exposure triangle (ISO / Shutter / Aperture) to create your image.  Understanding the exposure triangle is an important part of knowing how to use your camera, especially when shooting in low light.  Learning how to use your shutter speeds and exposure times with the ambient (natural light) will help to create a variety of looks in your photographs. At this low-light and long exposure seascape photography workshop you will be capturing and creating unique and inspiring images to be proud of.

Perfect your portrait photography at this on location shoot at the Welshot Photographic Academy Evening.  Our Models, wearing Dresses and Docs, and using the beautiful Llandudno Bay in North Wales as their backdrop, will be working hard to help you capture some stunning portraiture, using both off camera flash and natural, ambient lighting. We guarantee fun, frolics and frivolity as they pose for the camera, before and after the sun sets on the horizon, then, we've got a chance to do some low-light portraiture too!  Think portraits and piers, swishy dresses, stomping boots and biker jackets.  From posed portraits to those candid shots - this portrait photography session will help you learn a thing or three about lighting, hone your already gained skills or just help you to enhance your photographic portfolio. Our first Walking with Your Camera – A Guided Photo Walk with Helen Iles for 2023 and it’s a Welshot Mini Module with Masterclass – on this photographic event which takes place in the stunning Bodnant Gardens in North Wales we are going to help you get the best from your camera. In our Welshot masterclass you will learn the photographic technique of ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) and learn how to compose your images. Walking with your camera is about being in the great outdoors and capturing the surroundings in your camera. Dangerous Liaisons - Scandal, Intrigue, Mystery and Beauty - all of which surround the Women who will be portrayed by our Models in this Welshot Themed Photo-Shoot.  Covering eras from the mid 18th century to the 1950's - this Welshot inspired themed photo-shoot will portray at least four historical/fictitious, often infamous, Women - two of which can be seen here. Mrs Lovett from Sweeny Todd and Marie Antoinette.

At this Welshot event, with at least four Models (Male and Female) we will be using costumes from different historical periods - Most of the costumes will be bespoke to Welshot, having been made, or adapted, by our Team Creative.

As well as our bespoke costumes, we will have at least four different, specifically printed backdrops, that are unique to Welshot – all with an array of props for you to use throughout the day, ensuring you will leave this event with images to be proud of.

Shortest Night 2023 – A Photographic Adventure in North Wales

Welshot Does… The Shortest Night 2023 - A Photographic Adventure in North Wales.  On this, our annual all night adventure we will be visiting the beautiful landscape of Anglesey and Snowdonia in North Wales, which is always a firm Welshot favourite and always has our delegates booking on the next years ‘Shortest Night’ adventure before breakfast (included) have been eaten at the end of the event. The not so short, night of photography, which is always held as close to the 21st June as possible starts by the side of Llyn Padarn (Llanberis Lake) deep in the heart of Snowdonia before moving on for a marathon photographic session visiting numerous locations. Sixteen hours (Yes, we can see the irony!) of photographic fun, friendship and getting creative with your camera will have you shooting everything from star trails to long exposures, from architecture to land and seascapes. Hunting for the magic blue bioluminescence will also be on the agenda.

Point of Ayr Lighthouse is the northernmost point of mainland Wales.  It is situated immediately to the north of Talacre in Flintshire, at the mouth of the Dee estuary.  It is to the southwest of the Liverpool Bay Area of the Irish Sea.  This is our location for the Welshot Roving Academy Evening and will provide the photographer with a wide variety of shooting opportunities.  Starting with a short nature ramble through natural habitats and sand dunes we will make our way towards the shoreline where the dramatic Point of Ayr Lighthouse will be our backdrop.  From making long exposures, capturing a sunset to macro photography, the only limitation will be your imagination.
