Lighting Techniques for Portrait Photography - Day One:  Studio Mains Flash sees the return of the Welshot Photographic Lighting Academy Weekend.  Day one will cover all things 'Mains Studio' and you will be taken through all the steps you need to know to enable you to take, make and create great portraiture photography.  From learning how to set up your lighting equipment from the ground up, you will be taken through how using one light, then two, three and onto four lights can help you to capture a wide variety of images with different looks.  You will be shown how using a light meter can help you to get the perfectly exposed image to how working with props, modifiers and gels can change the look of your image.  Our experienced Welshot models will put you at ease immediately, and if you need help they will be only too pleased to help.  They will be wearing a variety of outfits/costumes and we will be using a wide range of backdrops and sets. If you have ever wanted to learn, perfect or hone your studio lighting for photography skills then this is the day for you.  Day one of the Welshot Lighting Academy Weekend can be taken as a stand-alone or together with day two (booked separately)

Lighting Techniques for Portrait Photography – Day two and it is all about Off Camera Flash Flash at the Welshot Photographic Lighting Academy Weekend.  Day two will cover everything you need to know about Off Camera Flash, how it works with your camera and how you can take, make and create great portraiture photography inside and outside on location.  From learning how to set up your lighting equipment from the ground up in the Welshot Creative Hub, you will be shown how to use one light, then two lights.  You will be working inside and out on location around Llandudno, and Team Welshot will help you to get all the images you want for your portfolio.  You will be shown how to work with props, modifiers and gels to give you a wide range of looks and our experienced Welshot models will put you at ease immediately.  If you need any help (with posing or working with models) they will be only too pleased to give you all the help, guidance and suggestions you want.  Our Models will be wearing a variety of outfits/costumes and we will be using a wide range of backdrops and sets (inside and outside). Post processing and editing for photography - Just like when you took a photo with your camera using film, your digital shot still needs to be developed and that's where Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom Classic and Affinity Photo come into their own. These are three of the most popular editing software tools for the photographer and on our Welshot editing days our team of experts will help you to look at your photo, assess it in a constructive way, and then create an edit plan for your image. Working on a one to one basis as well as in small groups you will be guaranteed to get the help needed for you and your photography.

Flat-lay is a popular genre of photography for those who like to be creative, post on various social media platforms or just want to spend some time making an creating imaginative, impactful images.  Knolling, a form of flat-lay but using specific props that link together (like kitchen cutlery, makeup or tools) to form an attractive, methodical, often symmetrical in some way, photograph.  At this Welshot Flat-lay photography day, held at the Welshot Creative Hub in Llandudno we will be spending the day learning the techniques, both compositionally and lighting to make and create images you can be proud to showcase.  Using a wide variety of props, from flowers to food, from kitchen utensils to stationery, from toys to tools - this day will have it all for you, your imagination and your camera.

Steampunk Meets Dieselpunk – A Welshot Themed Photo-Shoot

Join us at our first Themed Photo-Shoot of 2023 for what promises to be an exceptional day of photography.  This Welshot inspired nod, in essence, is a homage to vintage, Victorian fashion with a modern, sassy twist - Think Victorian Industrial meets Mad Max Futuristic. At this Welshot event, with at least four Models (Male and Female) we will be using bustles, corsets, gowns, and petticoats; suits with waistcoats, coats, top hats, tailcoats and spats; and military-inspired garments.  Most of the costumes will be bespoke to Welshot, having been made, or adapted, by our Team Creative.As well as our bespoke costumes, we will have at least four different, specifically printed backdrops, that are unique to Welshot - all with an array of props for you to use throughout the day, ensuring you will leave this event with images to be proud of.

Have you a hard-drive full of images that you don't know what to do with?  Do you ever wonder what you could do with your photos that you've taken?  Do you have memories that have been captured in camera and you'd like to put them into something more meaningful than Facebook?  Well. this Introduction to Digital scrapbooking is the perfect event for you.  This is the event that will have you being creative with all those wonderful photos that you've taken - and maybe even, make it into a book for printing, which would make the perfect gift for a loved one. At the Welshot Creative Hub in Llandudno, North Wales we will take you every step that you need to, to make a perfect digital scrapbook.  The software we use is simple, and free, which means you can carry on at home producing your wonderful scapbooks.

What Is Digital Scrapbooking:  Digital scrapbooking is the term for the creation of a new 2D artwork by re-combining various graphic elements and your own photos. It is a form of scrapbooking that is done using a personal computer, digital or scanned photos and computer graphics software. It is a relatively new form of the traditional print scrapbooking.

Dance Portrait Photography in Chester

Ballet shoes, tutus and graceful movements - that's what the Welshot Team will be helping you to capture in your camera at this Dance Portrait Photography workshop in Chester.  This will be a day of creating images using two different lighting set ups.  In the studio using mains flash and outside, on location using off camera flash.  From unique, specifically printed for Welshot, backdrops in a studio environment, to using the historic backdrop of Chester outside locations you will, on this photography workshop be making and creating stunning images for your photographic portfolio.  You will learn how to use your shutter speed to create a variety of effects in camera - from long exposures to freezing movement. Portraiture photography is a great skill to learn and on this event we will be using a variety of lighting to capture a range of different looks.  From head shots to our dancers leaping this day will have it all.

Macro & Close-Up Floral Photography. Macro photography (or close-up photography) is a photographic genre that some people struggle with but at our Full Day photographic event, based in the Welshot Creative Hub in Llandudno, Team Welshot will take you through step by step of everything you need to do to create some stunning macro photography images. At this event we will be working with a wide variety of flowers, using natural, ambient and artificial light, which will ensure you will still get a day of photography regardless of the weather outside.  There will be ample opportunity for one to one tuition as well as in a small group setting (this event is limited to just 4 people) where you can collaborate with other delegates.  With a whole day of photography ahead of you, there will be plenty of time to get creative, experiment and make some stunning images which you can be proud of.

Dangerous Liaisons – A Welshot Themed Photo-Shoot

Dangerous Liaisons - Scandal, Intrigue, Mystery and Beauty - all of which surround the Women who will be portrayed by our Models in this Welshot Themed Photo-Shoot.  Covering eras from the mid 18th century to the 1950's - this Welshot inspired themed photo-shoot will portray at least four historical/fictitious, often infamous, Women - two of which can be seen here. Mrs Lovett from Sweeny Todd and Marie Antoinette.

At this Welshot event, with at least four Models (Male and Female) we will be using costumes from different historical periods - Most of the costumes will be bespoke to Welshot, having been made, or adapted, by our Team Creative.

As well as our bespoke costumes, we will have at least four different, specifically printed backdrops, that are unique to Welshot – all with an array of props for you to use throughout the day, ensuring you will leave this event with images to be proud of.

Shortest Night 2023 – A Photographic Adventure in North Wales

Welshot Does… The Shortest Night 2023 - A Photographic Adventure in North Wales.  On this, our annual all night adventure we will be visiting the beautiful landscape of Anglesey and Snowdonia in North Wales, which is always a firm Welshot favourite and always has our delegates booking on the next years ‘Shortest Night’ adventure before breakfast (included) have been eaten at the end of the event. The not so short, night of photography, which is always held as close to the 21st June as possible starts by the side of Llyn Padarn (Llanberis Lake) deep in the heart of Snowdonia before moving on for a marathon photographic session visiting numerous locations. Sixteen hours (Yes, we can see the irony!) of photographic fun, friendship and getting creative with your camera will have you shooting everything from star trails to long exposures, from architecture to land and seascapes. Hunting for the magic blue bioluminescence will also be on the agenda.
