You will have two masterclasses - learning how to shoot the golden hour, before catching that sunset and the blue hour that photographers love so much. The second Welshot masterclass will help you to get prepared for an evening of Astro photography to ensure your camera is all set up to catch the night sky. You are going to learn how to make long exposures to capture the sea as it laps the shore and lighthouse as well as clouds and dramatic landscape in low light conditions. Creative Christmas Photography at the Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening is all about having some fun with your camera while you create some wonderful seasonal photographs.  At the November Welshot Academy Evening at the Welshot Creative Hub you will be learning how to make your own Christmas filters, then using fairy lights, and Christmas trees, you will learn how to capture that lovely Bokeh in your camera which makes for some stunning and festive images.  We will also be working with coloured lights, torches and gels to do some inside light-painting.  From flat-lay to still-life photography, from food to Christmas products this will be an opportunity for those who want to make festive and seasonal images for a specific purpose - art work, Christmas cards, stock photography or just for the pure fun of learning something new and a chance to take some photos.  Hot chocolate, Christmas mince pies, Christmas crackers and a glass (or two) of mulled wine will complete this last Llandudno Academy Evening for 2022.

At this Welshot Photographic Academy Evening you will see that oil and water do mix!  You will also see how water, bokeh, smoke from incense sticks, and using old Cd's can make for some great photos.  By learning how to make your own filters, create bokeh, and hone your flash techniques you will make and create water droplets which can make for stunning images or even artwork.  From Macro (or Close-Up) to using different camera settings and depth of field can give you a wide variety of different looks which will not only make your photography stand out but will also help build your portfolio.   Brilliant for stock images, or craft work if that's your jam - learning the art of creative photography not only gets you thinking a little differently but it is also satisfying and almost mindfulness-like.  It will also, undoubtedly, learning more about your camera and how to use it in more ways than one.

Walking With Your Camera - A Guided Photo Walk with Helen Iles - Cwmorthin - North Wales

Grab your camera, pull on your walking boots, we're off on a photographic adventure deep in the heart of Snowdonia, North Wales. Photography and a nature ramble - What could be better for those who love nothing more than being outside with their cameras? On this Cwmorthin - Walking With Your Camera - A Guided Photo Walk with Helen Iles we will be walking from Tanygrisiau up to Cwmorthin, which is where you will find the abandoned slate mines of Rhosydd Quarry.  This is a beautiful walk for a photographer, the scenery is nothing short of stunning and the abandoned quarry ruins and houses are hauntingly striking.  From a distance, the mountains are breath-taking in their quiet beauty, but dig a little deeper and there is a treasure trove of secrets for you and your camera.  A glimpse of a noisy and destructive industrial era long left behind and an eerie peek into the hard life of a quarry miner in the mid nineteenth century.  From landscape, to macro, from capturing the movement of waterfalls to creating abstract images - this day out, walking with your camera will not disappoint.

While the initial first section of the path is a rocky steep incline it is relatively short and we will be stopping to shoot the waterfalls and slate formations, going very slowly as we make our way up.  Once we reach the first level there is Llyn Cwmorthin (Lake). A beautiful expanse of a water, nestling in a quiet valley. Here there are buildings and slate piles, reeds, water lilies, birds, something for everyone who likes to photograph in the natural environment.

As we will be starting this walk at 12.30 and not finishing until 7.30pm we will be making use of the best light for Landscape Photography.
